Forget Rogers and Tzolis: Arsenal now stepping up bid to sign attacking sensation - BBC

Arsenal will be hoping to get their hands on silverware once again during the 2026/27 season after lifting the Premier League title back in May.

The Gunners ended a 22-year wait for England's top prize after beating Manchester City to top spot, with Mikel Arteta's men narrowly missing out on the double after defeat to Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League final.

Arsenal have already made moves in the transfer market to bolster their squad following the permanent addition of Piero Hincapie from Bayer Leverkusen after his initial loan spell and the arrival of goalkeeper Illan Meslier on a free transfer.

Arteta will be hoping more additions follow in the weeks ahead, especially a new attacking player to give his team more firepower as they look to retain their league title.

Arsenal watch hotshot

Arsenal are stepping up their efforts to sign Georgia Under-21 star Andria Bartishvili, according to the BBC.

Gunners recruitment specialist Micheli watched the attacker play for Iberia 1999 against Flora in their Champions League qualifier last Wednesday.

The 17-year-old is currently on a season-long loan at his current club after joining on loan from Kolkheti 1913 at the turn of the year.

Bartishvili, who has already drawn comparisons to PSG ace Khvicha Kvaratskhelia due to what he can produce going forward, is expected to secure a move away in the near future amid interest from Italian giants Juventus as well as Arsenal.

The attacking midfielder has so far registered two goals and two assists for Iberia 1999 in the Erovnuli Liga this term, and he also played his part in the Georgian club securing a 5-4 aggregate victory in their Champions League qualifier to set up a second qualifying round match against Slovan Bratislava.

Bartishvili has already made a big impression in his homeland after wowing in his game time and it comes as no surprise to see him likened to Kvaratskhelia.

The youngster also appears to have caught the eye of Georgia boss Willy Sagnol, with the former France international highlighting Bartishvili's talent but also stating the importance of having the right mindset if he is to go far in his career.

“I watched the youth team play, Bartishvili is a very talented player," said Sagnol back in June. “However, for a talented player to take a step forward in his career, technique alone is not enough.

“The right mindset is needed, and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia is an example of this. Hopefully, Andria and the other young players will continue to work and develop to become great players in the future.”
