Manchester United transfer news: The summer transfer window has a habit of throwing up sudden, frantic pursuits, and the latest scramble revolves around Amad Diallo. Fresh from a breakthrough season at Old Trafford, the Ivorian winger is attracting some serious attention from both the Premier League and the continent.
Manchester United transfer news: Winger Amad Diallo sparks major three-way transfer battle
CaughtOffside reports that Newcastle United and Brighton are monitoring his situation closely. They want him. But they are not alone. Italian giants AC Milan are also drawing up plans to lure the young attacker away from Manchester. It is a massive development for a player who, until recently, had to bide his time on the periphery of the Red Devils’ first team.
Newcastle boss Eddie Howe wants to inject some genuine pace and dynamic directness into his right flank. Amad provides him with an ideal option. He is young, he has a top-flight pedigree, and his ceiling is incredibly high. Down on the south coast, Brighton are similarly keen. They want to add his creative spark to an already vibrant, youth-centric squad.
The trouble for the suitors is United’s position. It is incredibly strong.
Amad is contracted to the club until June 2030, meaning the hierarchy at Old Trafford holds all the cards. They have zero pressure to sell. Unless a completely ridiculous, eye-watering bid lands on their desk, they will not even consider opening negotiations. It would likely take a direct transfer request from the player himself to force any movement. Right now, there is absolutely no sign of that happening. Amad is happy. He is settled, enjoying his football, and feels valued by the coaching staff at Carrington.
AC Milan plot a tricky San Siro proposal
The interest from Italy adds a fascinating option to this story. AC Milan have earmarked Amad as a priority signing to bolster their squad for domestic and Champions League campaigns. They see him as a potential starter, a direct replacement for departing players, and someone who can elevate their entire front line. San Siro scouts have tracked his progress ever since his brilliant loan spell with Sunderland in the Championship. Actually getting him is another matter.
Milan are operating on a tight budget. They cannot compete with Newcastle’s financial muscle in a straight bidding war, so they are trying to structure a creative, heavily incentivised proposal to tempt United. It is a massive long shot.
Our take: Selling Amad makes zero sense for United
Letting Amad leave now would be madness.
He played 32 times in the Premier League last season, starting 27 of those matches. He racked up 2,341 minutes of top-flight football, scoring twice and setting up another three. Those numbers do not even tell the whole story. His close control, vision, and tactical discipline became vital to the side.
Selling a 23-year-old with this much potential just as he establishes himself makes no sense. United have spent years developing him. Giving up on him now represents a massive step backwards. Unless Newcastle or Milan lose their minds and offer a completely absurd sum of money, the club must reject every single bid that lands in their inbox.
