The Portugal Under-21 international is attracting interest from Olympique Lyon after an impressive second half of the season at the Gers.
Under Danny Rohl, the striker established himself as the first-choice number nine, but it remains to be seen what the future holds for him ahead of next season.
Chermiti is valued at £20million at Ibrox and Derek McInnes would surely like to see him partner with Lawrence Shankland.
The Scottish manager hopes to win silverware immediately at the Glaswegian outfit and will undoubtedly want to keep hold of the best players.
With the Govan side setting their price, it doesn't look like there's going to be any movement on the former Everton ace anytime soon.
Scottish journalist Andy Devlin has now reported that the Ligue 1 outfit did indeed make inquiries about the striker's situation at Ibrox.
The Gers were adamant that any bids for the 22-year-old attacker would need to start at the £20m mark.
So far, the French club haven't taken any steps after being made aware of the price tag around the striker.
It may indicate that Lyon have been put off by the Glaswegian outfit's demands for Chermiti's sale and he may end up staying in Govan for the foreseeable future.
Speaking on Go Ballistic on 14 July, Devlin said: "It's my understanding that Lyon did make tentative inquiries with regards to Chermiti and they were told under no uncertain terms that if you want him, the bidding starts at £20m. There has been no follow-up from Lyon."
Would it make sense for Rangers to sell Chermiti?
On paper, Rangers have enough depth in their number nine position right now to sell two players.
Danilo already seems to be on his way out of the Gers, but another centre-forward could possibly look for pastures new soon.
Ryan Naderi and Bojan Miovski are also at McInnes' disposal, giving the 55-year-old head coach four strikers to rely on for the 2026-27 campaign.
While some fans might think the Light Blues can afford to sell Chermiti without replacing him, it may not make the most sense.
Naderi had some frustrating fitness issues towards the end of last season, while the North Macedonia striker has failed to live up to expectations in G51.
The Glaswegian outfit may yet see Chermiti take his game to the next level alongside Shankland at Ibrox, subsequently increasing his value.
