Nick Woltemade had a World Cup to forget with Germany as the Newcastle United striker made just one appearance and grabbed headlines for the wrong reasons.
Germany were sent packing from the World Cup by Miguel Almiron's Paraguay after a penalty shootout.
The German penalty takers were abysmal, and one of them was our very own Nick Woltemade, who came on earlier in the game for his first World Cup appearance, only to fluff his lines in the shootout.
After his emphatic penalty against Nottingham Forest for Newcastle, we can see why he was selected to be one of Germany's takers, but it just wasn't meant to be for the 6'6" striker.
Nick Woltemade is training with Werder Bremen
While the first group of Newcastle players returned to training this week, the World Cup participants get a bit of extra time to relax, but Nick Woltemade doesn't have his feet up on the beach.
His former club, Werder Bremen have posted on Instagram that Woltemade is training with them for a few days during his time off.
The players are given a programme to follow during the summer so they aren't completely out of shape when they return to training, and it's good to see Woltemade taking it seriously.

Next season is huge for Nick Woltemade
Nick Woltemade will feel he's got a lot to prove to Newcastle fans next season after a bizarre first campaign in England.
The former Stuttgart star got off to a flying start, scoring four goals in five games, but then everything changed for the striker, who ultimately ended up being pulled back into a midfield role.
It's not just Woltemade who has work to do this summer, though. Eddie Howe needs to come up with a plan for how best to deploy the £69m man to get the best out of him at St James' Park. It can't all be placed on Woltemade's shoulders, especially when he's being played out of position.
Fingers crossed he can hit the ground running when he returns to Benton and gets a good pre-season behind him ahead of a strong season full of goals.
