Juventus have shortlisted Tottenham forward after talks with Roberto De Zerbi.
Roberto De Zerbi has reshaped Tottenham Hotspur’s defensive unit this summer with the signings of Andy Robertson, Marcos Senesi and Jan Paul van Hecke. This has triggered the departures of Radu Dragusin and Luka Vuskovic, whilst making the futures of other defenders in N17 uncertain.
The Spurs boss also plans to add to his forward line after watching his attackers produce inconsistent performances. The Lilywhites were toothless going forward, lacking penetration and creativity. James Maddison missing the majority of the campaign due to an ACL injury had a huge impact on the team’s creativity, resulting directly in the productivity of the forwards.
However, Richarlison was the only attacker to emerge with some credit. He was the north London club’s top scorer with 12 goals in 43 appearances in all competitions. Despite the Brazilian international showing his best in a while in the capital, Tottenham are looking to cash him in this summer.
Roberto De Zerbi playing a key role behind the scenes for Richarlison’s exit
According to Italian daily Gazzetta dello Sport, Juventus have added Richarlison to their shortlist of attacking options. New Juventus CEO Giovanni Carnevali has held discussions with De Zerbi in recent weeks over the situation of goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario. During those talks, Richarlison was mentioned.
Spurs have no plans to extend Richarlison’s contract, which expires in 2027. The Brazilian also wants to try a new adventure after four years in north London, and Juventus have now identified him as an option to bolster their strike force. The report adds that Tottenham want between €20m and €25m to sell the 29-year-old.
An unknown Turkish club could rival Juventus for Richarlison
Turkish clubs are also taking an interest in signing Richarlison. Recent reports suggested that an unknown top Turkish club tabled an official offer for the forward. There has been no follow-up information on that, but that unknown Turkish club is now expected to face competition from Juventus.
Juve are vying for the Tottenham striker’s signature following the release of Dusan Vlahovic. Despite Richarlison not having the best of times at White Hart Lane, the Bianconeri are willing to take a punt on him. It remains to be seen how concrete their interest in the South American star is and whether De Zerbi has managed to convince Carnevali to table a bid for Richarlison.
If it boils down to choosing between Turkey and Italy as the next destination, we feel Richarlison will go with the latter.
