Megan Pickford has shared an emotional update on Instagram following England's 2-1 defeat to Argentina in the World Cup semi-final in Atlanta. The Three Lions had one foot in the final heading into the final few minutes of normal time after Anthony Gordon's opener.

But a late comeback from Argentina, thanks to goals from Enzo Fernandez and Lautaro Martinez, ensured the defending champions would have an opportunity to defend their crown.

Megan uploaded a video on social media showing her hanging up four England kits, which had been worn by Jordan Pickford's children at this summer's tournament.

The wife of the Three Lions shot stopper closed the cupboard door with emotional music playing in the background, and captioned the video: "The end of the dream [crying emoji, heart emoji]."

It was another bitterly disappointing end to the tournament for the Three Lions, who looked a completely different side after going a goal to the good.

Thomas Tuchel's approach to the game has come under fire, with his defensive substitutions changing the flow of the game.

The German head coach attempted to shore things up at the back, just as he had done during England's win at the Azteca against Mexico, but this time to no avail.

Pickford himself has come under fire, with former England defender Gary Neville claiming the Toffees' star could have done better with Enzo Fernandez's equaliser in the 85th minute.

Lionel Messi played a short corner and worked the ball out to Fernandez on the edge of the area, who had time to set himself and curl and effort into the back of the net from 20-yards out.

Pickford was seen scrambling across his goal, but wasn't able to keep the ball out of the net. Speaking to the Overlap, Neville said: "Not gone in the corner, that.

"He's got to save that, got to save it. He's past it. I think Jordan should save that."

Roy Keane was more inclined to praise the strike from Fernandez, though did question Pickford's credentials. He said: "What a strike, what a strike that is.

"'Keeper gets nowhere near it, look at the keeper, he's nowhere near it. It's the power. I think if you look at it, I think he was one of them ones.

"He was kind of leaning to see it. We've always said Pickford, is Pickford really going to be producing amazing saves?

"He's been very good for England. Obviously very good for Everton. But is he really a top-class goalkeeper?"
