BYD plugs in to power of PSG to drive its European car business

July 17 – Chinese electric car maker BYD has agreed a three-season sponsorship with European champions Paris Saint-Germain, becoming the club’s Official Automotive Partner of Paris Saint-Germain.

The sponsorship will activate through worldwide campaigns, exclusive content, immersive fan activations and unique experiences for supporters. BYD will have a package of signage real estate at PSG’s Parc des Princes stadium, while vehicles from both BYD and DENZA, the Group’s premium car brand, will support Paris Saint-Germain’s day-to-day operations.

Richard Heaselgrave, chief revenue officer of Paris Saint-Germain, said: “We are proud to welcome BYD to the Paris Saint-Germain family. As one of the world’s fastest-growing and most innovative companies, BYD is a natural partner for the club. Bringing our two brands together opens exciting opportunities to engage fans through creativity, innovation and unique experiences around the world.”

BYD said it will use the PSG platform to showcase its cutting-edge technologies to a global audience. In France, where BYD is growing its presence, sponsorship will support the expansion of its retail network, and build its relationship with French consumers.

Stella Li, Executive Vice-President of BYD, said: “At BYD, we share the same determination to challenge convention, inspire progress and connect with people through innovation. This partnership brings together two globally recognised brands united by a forward-looking vision and a passion for creating exceptional experiences. Together, we look forward to engaging with millions of fans worldwide while promoting a more innovative and sustainable future.”

Founded in 1994 as a rechargeable battery maker, BYD’s business covers the automobile industry, rail transit, new energy, and electronics with a mission statement to provide zero-emission energy solutions that reduce global reliance on fossil fuels.

Its car sales now cover 6 continents, more than 100 countries and regions, and more than 400 cities with a focus on its range of fully electric and Super Hybrid vehicles. The company was the world’s first carmaker to stop the production of fossil-fuelled vehicles.

No value was given for the PSG sponsorship.
