Aston Villa are eying West Ham United midfielder Crysencio Summerville and Paris Saint-Germain forward Ibrahim Mbaye as potential replacements for Morgan Rogers.
Rogers, 23, is set to join Chelsea after the club accepted a monumental £117million bid. The England international became the latest player to depart the club after Youri Tielemans moved to Manchester United for £35m and Donyell Malen made his loan move to Roma permanent in a deal worth around £21m.
Unai Emery's side have already bulked their midfield with the arrivals of Switzerland World Cup star Johan Manzambi and Wolverhampton Wanderers ace Joao Gomes, but replacing Rogers is next on their list. To get one of their targets, Villa could look to hijack one transfer deal themselves.
The Athletic have already stated Mbaye and Summerville have been identified as potential replacements. However, the latter is also being pursued by Roma, where he would play in the same team as Malen.
Nevertheless, a deal is not wrapped up and Villa still have time to gazump the Serie A side with a large bid of their own, in the same way Chelsea did to Arsenal with Rogers. Summerville enjoyed an excellent World Cup with the Netherlands, scoring twice and assisting twice in four appearances.
His performances for West Ham and his country also placed him on Manchester United's transfer radar. The Hammers are understood to value him at around £50m, having recently rejected an offer of around £39m from the club.

The cash injection from Rogers' deal could help the club put down a firm bid for Summerville, who contributed five goals and four assists in 31 Premier League appearances for the East Londoners last season.
Meanwhile, Mbaye is also a man in demand this summer. The 18-year-old came off the bench to score against France in Senegal's 3-1 loss to Les Bleus in their opening game.
He then appeared in their next three matches - the 3-2 loss to Norway, the 5-0 win over Iraq and the dramatic 3-2 defeat to Belgium in the round of 32. Mbaye has also been linked with Tottenham and Manchester City this summer.

The youngster made 24 Ligue 1 appearances last season, scoring three goals and creating two, but only ten of his appearances came as a starter. It's understood he is looking for more first-team football this season, after struggling to break through PSG's stacked front-line.
Reports from France have claimed PSG will be looking for at least £34m to part with the teenage prodigy. However, it's believed they are willing to allow him to depart the club for the right price.
It is also claimed that a move to the Premier League is his preferred choice, which is a boost for Villa, should they find themselves in a tug of war with other clubs in Europe.
