Tottenham midfielder Lucas Bergvall is now wanted by Serie A giants.
Tottenham Hotspur have rebuffed all attempts to sign Lucas Bergvall, including higher offers, though they would consider a sale if the fee reached a level they view as acceptable.
Lucas Bergvall is contracted to Spurs until June 2031 and has told the club he would prefer to explore a move this summer. The Swedish prodigy made 78 appearances for the Lilywhites since arriving for £8.5 million from Djurgarden in 2024. He played 33 times last season, registering one goal and five assists. It was an injury-ravaged campaign as he underwent ankle surgery in January and missed two months of action.
Tottenham have spent £185 million on Sandro Tonali and Mateus Fernandes to strengthen their midfield, which has led to Bergvall looking for greener pastures ahead of the new campaign. Nottingham Forest have made the 20-year-old their primary target as they seek to replace Elliot Anderson after his big-money move to Manchester City.
Newcastle United have also shown an interest in the Swedish international, who was recently on World Cup duty. And now there is now entrant in the race to sign the Tottenham man.
Lucas Bergvall emerges as a target for Juventus
According to a report from TuttoJuve, Juventus are interested in signing Bergvall. They want to add the youngster to their squad during the current transfer window, but completing a deal could prove difficult because of the central midfielder’s high valuation.
The level of investment required could make it extremely difficult for the Serie A side to compete with the Premier League clubs. With Newcastle United and Nottingham Forest armed with funds following sales of their key midfielders, Juventus may struggle to match the financial demands involved in completing the transfer for Bergvall. Until and unless the Turin giants make some big sales, signing the Swede would be an uphill task.
Bergvall could also prefer to remain in the Premier League rather than move to Juventus, particularly due to him being settled in England since 2024. He has gained decent top-flight experience with Spurs and would want to continue his career in the Premier League for now, despite Juventus’ status as one of Europe’s biggest clubs.
That said, it remains to be seen which of the aforementioned clubs decide to meet Tottenham’s £60m asking price for Bergvall. As far as Juve are concerned, the financial package involved in making a deal for the Scandinavian talent happen makes it increasingly complicated.
