Manchester United are keeping tabs on Fulham left-back Antonee Robinson as they seek to bolster their left-back department for the new campaign.
The Red Devils have primarily focused on strengthening their midfield department. They have already recruited Andrey Santos and Youri Tielemans alongside goalkeeper Karl Darlow.
The hierarchy are exploring the transfer market for a third midfielder, but they are likewise keen on adding another left-back to compete with Luke Shaw.
Robinson is one of the top candidates on United’s radar, as per The Guardian. The USA international is currently contracted to the Cottagers until June 2028.
Robinson would be a fine deputy for Shaw
The Red Devils have slightly changed their transfer policy ahead of the new season. They are focusing on experienced solutions who can make an immediate impact.
Tielemans was recruited despite turning 29 in May. The Belgian is a progressive passer and should provide an upgrade in the heart of the midfield next term.
Similarly, Darlow should be a good deputy for goalkeeper Senne Lammens, with Altay Bayindir set to leave. The 35-year-old stood out as Leeds’ first-choice shot-stopper earlier this year.
Robinson would likewise be a good addition to the club’s ranks. The 28-year-old left-back has been a steady performer for Fulham and has caught the eye with his overlapping runs.
The USA star managed 10 assists in the top-flight during the 2024/25 campaign. He was hampered by a knee injury in the first half of last season, but was an undisputed starter in the back end.
With vast experience of 158 Premier League appearances, Robinson could seamlessly fit into United’s plans, given he is attack-minded. He could provide quality competition for Shaw.
Shaw stayed unscathed last term with just one game per week, but his fitness could be tested next season with more training sessions and matches, considering his worrying injury record.
Robinson would be a solid replacement when required and could be signed for an affordable fee.
Back in March, it was reported that he could be prised away for around £25 million, but given the current inflation in the transfer market, it could take around £30-35m to persuade Fulham to sell.
Patrick Dorgu is the immediate backup to Shaw at the moment, but he has been unconvincing with his positioning. United seem to consider him as a left-sided winger ahead of next season.
