Man Utd are one of three Premier League clubs “in the front row” to sign Como midfielder Martin Baturina, according to reports in the Italian media.
The Croatian international only moved to Serie A from Dinamo Zagreb last summer for €18m, and he initially struggled to make an impression.
However, Baturina has had a very strong 2026, catching the eye for both club and country, and Calciomercato.com claim that the Red Devils, Tottenham and Aston Villa are all interested in securing his services.
Michael Carrick’s side are in the market for a third midfielder, having signed Andrey Santos and Youri Tielemans, and Baturina is deemed to be a potential alternative to Roma’s Manu Kone.
Villa would pose the biggest threat to Man Utd
Baturina is an attacking midfielder, having scored 8 goals and provided 4 assists in 34 appearances for Como last season.
However, his manager Cesc Fabregas also regularly deployed the 23-year-old on the left wing, which would make him an ideal replacement for Morgan Rogers.
Villa will soon have the proceeds from the England star’s sale, and some of that £117m could be invested in Baturina.
Unai Emery’s side could, therefore, cause the most problems if Man Utd do decide to approach Como for the player.
Baturina has quite a high asking price
The Croatian’s valuation could be as high as €80m (£68m), and negotiating down the fee may prove to be difficult.
Club president Mirwan Suwarso is prepared to turn down sizeable bids for his players. Speaking about his club’s transfer policy recently, he said:
“We are not afraid to refuse. Last summer we sent back a 60 million offer for Assane Diao, I can’t say by whom. And in [the] winter, also another 40 for Jayden Addai.”
It was reported last month that a bid of around €50m (£43m) was rejected for Baturina, so Como will be very tough negotiators.
