West Ham winger Crysencio Summerville has a buyout clause that is “expiring within 48 hours”, according to Italian journalist Alfredo Pedulla.
Roma have already agreed personal terms with the Dutchman, and they recently tabled an offer which is below the activation fee. Posting on X, Pedulla said the figure is “under €50m”.
How much truth there is to that claim, it remains to be seen, but even if it is an accurate report, teams will only have another day to trigger the clause, with Pedulla issuing his update on Sunday morning.
Aston Villa could challenge Roma for Summerville
Writing on The West Ham Way Patreon (quotes via their website), trusted insider EXWHUEmployee named Aston Villa as the “leading domestic club” pursuing the Netherlands international’s signature.
Unai Emery’s side will soon have £117m burning a hole in their pockets after selling Morgan Rogers to Chelsea.
Manchester United and Tottenham have also been linked with moves for Summerville, but neither club are said to be in a position to make a bid at the moment.
It is believed that Man United would need to offload Marcus Rashford first, while Spurs may only make an offer if their attempts to snap up Man City’s Savinho fail.
West Ham are eyeing several different replacements
Leicester City’s Abdul Fatawu and Everton’s Dwight McNeil have been the two most prominent wingers linked with a switch to the London Stadium.
However, Sevilla’s Ruben Vargas, Brighton’s Omario Cozier-Duberry and Simon Adingra have also been mentioned as potential targets.
The news that captain Jarrod Bowen has signed a new contract means the need for multiple additions out wide is not as urgent, but head coach Nuno Espirito Santo will still be keen to bring in fresh faces on both flanks before the transfer window closes.
