A new batch of Manchester United fans have received emails threatening to revoke their season tickets after allegedly breaking the club's ticketing terms and conditions.
United began an operation to clamp down on touting last week, which resulted in some supporters receiving emails stating that their accounts had been temporarily restricted due to "sustained activity" having been identified.
The email asked fans to confirm every device they regularly use to access their account. The restrictions on some fans' accounts were lifted, but others were left in limbo and face the prospect of losing their season ticket, despite insisting they are innocent of any wrongdoing.
United sent a statement to some fans who have appealed the restrictions on their accounts, describing the operation as "successful", but the club recognised that "some innocent supporters may have been affected" and apologised for the inconvenience during the process.
However, the fiasco took another turn on Monday when a further batch of supporters received the same email from last week's rollout, meaning hundreds of the club's most loyal fans have been accused of touting.
One fan posted on X: "I've had the dreaded email from United. 22 years, home and away, every game. Upwards of 75 European aways, and now it's over. Finished. And for what? Helping my mum forward a ticket."
United have offered the chance to appeal, but supporters who protested their innocence and supplied evidence face a nervous wait as the club gets to grips with the backlash to the operation.
A United email sent to the Manchester Evening News from a supporter who appealed their restriction stated that the club would review the case with the appeals panel "next week". In the email, United said they could not confirm a date for an outcome, but said it would be before the new season.
United fans have accused the club of showing disregard for some of their most dedicated season ticket holders.
The Manchester United Supporters' Trust and United Fans' Forum are currently trying to help affected supporters through official channels with the club.
