INEOS on red alert after Romano confirms today that Premier League target has rejected latest contract offer

Bournemouth are frantically trying to get Alex Scott tied down to a new long-term deal amid growing interest from suitors.

However, their efforts are to no avail as of yet, as Fabrizio Romano has confirmed this morning that the midfielder has rebuffed their latest offer.

Alex Scott: The state of play

It is the second proposal that has been declined by Scott and his camp, which will start to concern Bournemouth chiefs.

The 22-year-old’s current contract runs until June 2028, and the prospect of losing such a coveted and gifted talent for nothing in two years’ time will be unthinkable for the Cherries.

In order to avoid such a situation from developing, they may eventually feel inclined to reluctantly facilitate a sale, despite still maintaining the stance that he is off limits.

Romano adds that some of the Premier League’s ‘top clubs’ are ‘attentive’ to Scott’s rejections – and Manchester United will undoubtedly be one.

United have Scott high on their shortlist

Numerous outlets in recent months have verified that the Red Devils are among Scott’s admirers this summer, but they have yet to materialise their interest with an offer.

That could well change in the coming weeks, though, based on what they’re now hearing out of the Vitality Stadium.

The youngster would pose as an ideal addition to Michael Carrick’s ranks following the arrivals of Andrey Santos and Youri Tielemans.

Elsewhere, INEOS are said to be mulling over an approach for AS Roma’s Manu Kone, who is more likely to be available before the transfer deadline.

He has just overseen a stellar World Cup campaign with France, so Roma are anticipating an influx of bids now that the tournament is over.

Kone, 25, would be a much cheaper alternative to Scott, as he is reportedly valued at £43 million.
