After watching Emiliano Martinez perform at the 2026 World Cup, pundit Sergio Porrini believes Juventus should make the goalkeeper a member of their squad during this transfer window.
The Argentine has emerged as the main goalkeeping target for the Bianconeri, who are looking to replace Michele di Gregorio in goal. Although Di Gregorio remains a talented goalkeeper, he has failed to fully convince Luciano Spalletti, who selected Mattia Perin ahead of him in several matches last season.
Juventus hope offers will arrive for Di Gregorio this summer as they search for another top goalkeeper, with Martinez viewed as the ideal candidate to take over between the posts.
Juventus Target Martinez Move
Aston Villa want to keep Martinez for another season, and the goalkeeper will decide his future after his post World Cup break. Juventus will need to push strongly if they want to convince him to request a move to Turin.
The Bianconeri believe Martinez could provide the experience and leadership they need, especially as they look to build a squad capable of competing for major honours.
According to Tuttojuve, Porrini previously had doubts about the former Arsenal goalkeeper, but his performances at the World Cup have changed his opinion. Porrini believes Juventus should make an effort to sign him this summer.
Porrini Praises Martinez Qualities
He said, “I would take him. Before the World Cup, I had some doubts. Now that I’ve seen him, his saves, his personality…34 years is too short for a goalkeeper, maturation can come even late.”
Porrini added, “He has personality, he can parry, he even has the setting with his feet. Juve need charismatic players, leaders, and he gives me the feeling that he can be. You need those footballers who are used to playing to win.”
Martinez’s experience and mentality have made him an attractive option for Juventus. The goalkeeper has several qualities that could benefit Juve, and Porrini believes his leadership could make him an important figure in their squad if a transfer is completed.
