Manchester United are reportedly expecting a “realistic fee” of around £15 million for highly rated goalkeeper Radek Vitek, according to journalist Nathan Salt.
The 22-year-old dramatically enhanced his reputation during an outstanding loan spell with Bristol City last season.
Vitek kept 12 clean sheets in 41 appearances and finished fourth in the Championship for goals prevented.
His superb performances earned him a clean sweep of Bristol City’s biggest individual honours, including Player of the Season, Young Player of the Year and Players’ Player of the Year.
Despite his impressive progress, Vitek is now pushing for a move away from Old Trafford in search of regular first-team football.
Senne Lammens had a phenomenal debut campaign at United. He made several crucial saves and brought calmness between the sticks during set-pieces.
United would ideally have wanted Vitek to stay as cover for Lammens. Head coach Michael Carrick could have given him opportunities in the cup competitions to showcase his talent.
However, the towering Czech goalkeeper has made it clear that his ambition is to become a first-choice goalkeeper elsewhere.
Interest in Vitek is continuing to grow, with several clubs monitoring his situation ahead of the new season.
While a loan remains an option, a permanent transfer would allow INEOS to maximise his value and strengthen the club’s financial position.
Given the current transfer market, United could arguably justify demanding a fee closer to £20m for their young goalkeeper.
However, a guaranteed £15m package, combined with either a buy-back clause or a significant sell-on percentage, could represent smart long-term business.
