Juventus could be set to frustrate AS Roma once again by targeting another player the Giallorossi are eager to retain after securing the signing of Zeki Celik this summer.
Roma had reached an agreement with Celik over a new contract and believed they had secured his long-term future at the club. However, just before the deal was signed, the defender changed course and agreed to a three-year contract with Juventus instead.
The move came as a major disappointment for Roma, particularly for Gian Piero Gasperini, who had supported the player and encouraged the club to offer him a new deal. The Bianconeri could now capitalise on another contract situation involving the capital club.
Juventus Monitor Pellegrini Situation
Roma are also attempting to reach an agreement with Lorenzo Pellegrini over a new contract, but negotiations have yet to produce a breakthrough, leaving the midfielder as a free agent.
According to Sport Mediaset, Juventus are closely monitoring developments and remain interested in the experienced Italian should the opportunity arise.
Pellegrini has continued discussions with Roma and has not indicated a desire to leave. However, his contract situation means he is free to consider other options if an agreement is not reached.
Roma Face Growing Pressure
Juventus could attempt to tempt Pellegrini with a more lucrative offer, similar to the approach that reportedly resulted in Celik choosing to move to Turin.
Although Pellegrini is older and has strong ties to Roma as his hometown club, he remains one of the most experienced midfielders in Italian football and could provide valuable quality and leadership to the Juventus squad.
For the moment, Juventus are waiting for further developments while Roma continue negotiations with the midfielder. If the talks continue to stall and Pellegrini decides he is ready for a new challenge, the Bianconeri could move quickly to secure another significant signing at Roma’s expense.
