Bryan Mbeumo's first season at Manchester United was an impressive one, despite it being a difficult year to be an employee at Old Trafford.

Bryan Mbeumo officially signed for Manchester United on July 21, 2025 - exactly one year and one day ago today.
Since his £71 million move from Brentford, Mbeumo has been used in multiple positions and by multiple managers.
He began life at Old Trafford as a right-sided attacking midfielder, forming an impressive partnership with Amad, who was predominantly being used as a right-wing-back under Rúben Amorim.
The came the brief stint under Darren Fletcher, which Mbeumo missed due to being at AFCON with Cameroon. When he returned from the competition, Michael Carrick had been instilled as Manchester United manager – which was good news for Mbeumo.
The 26-year-old played as both a right-winger and as a centre-forward for Carrick, while deputising on the left flank when he was needed.
It was a good year for Mbeumo, so let's look back.
Bryan Mbeumo started Manchester United's opening two Premier League matches (a 1-0 loss to Arsenal and a 1-1 draw with Fulham). He was also chosen from the start against Grimsby Town in the Carabao Cup.
While Mbeumo netted his first United goal against Grimsby, he will not remember that game for the right reasons. The former Brentford man missed the penalty that saw United exit the competition in the first round against the League Two opposition.
He was not solely to blame – none of Manchester United's players were good enough that day.
A goal against Burnley would have restored some confidence three days later, but he then went the next four without a goal (including matches against Chelsea and Manchester City).
After the October international break, Mbeumo appeared to return with a point to prove.
He netted a goal inside two minutes at Anfield, which later gave Harry Maguire the platform to score the winner in the 84th minute.
Mbeumo followed that impressive performance up with two goals in a 4-2 win against Brighton and another solid showing in a 2-2 draw against Nottingham Forest.
The Cameroon international also scored against Tottenham Hotspur before the November international break.
However, before he departed for AFCON – a five-game spell in November and December – Mbeumo only found the goal once, despite playing over 89 minutes in every game.
Mbeumo returned to Old Trafford for Michael Carrick's first game against Manchester City – he scored the opener.
He started against Arsenal in the second match – he scored the opener. An impressive performance in a 3-2 win against Fulham followed, before another opening goal against Tottenham Hotspur. An assist against West Ham United. An Assist against Everton. Impressive against Crystal Palace, too.
In truth, his form did fall away a touch after that. But he ensured to recover it before the end of the season with goals in back-to-back games against Nottingham Forest and Brighton and Hove Albion.
It wasn't all plain sailing in his first season, but he still came out the other side with 12 goals and three assists in 34 appearances.
With Champions League to play next season, Mbeumo is sure to have more opportunities to find the goal. And with Michael Carrick at the helm, he just may become a fan favourite.
