Warren Zaire-Emery is reportedly back on Manchester United’s shortlist for a fresh transfer approach. This piece of Man United transfer news links the club with a third midfield addition this summer.

Warren Zaire-Emery now on Man United’s transfer radar

Warren Zaire-Emery has emerged as the newest name linked with a move to Old Trafford this summer. As reported by the Manchester Evening News, a £51m move for the PSG midfielder is reportedly being lined up, with Michael Carrick still chasing a third addition to his central midfield. United first showed interest in the France international back in 2023, when their scouts began watching him closely. This summer already saw Andrey Santos and Youri Tielemans join Old Trafford, in a combined deal worth close to £85m. Zaire-Emery could give Carrick’s midfield the depth and genuine competition for places it has lacked.

As reported by French outlet Top Mercato, PSG value their academy graduate at around £68m, well above United’s opening number. Casemiro’s exit to Inter Miami, once his contract expired, left Carrick short of a genuine leader in central midfield. Zaire-Emery only turned 20 in March and has already made more than 100 senior appearances for the club. Last season alone he made 49 appearances for PSG before playing at the World Cup for France. Injuries to Achraf Hakimi and Fabian Ruiz gave the youngster extra minutes across an otherwise crowded midfield. Once both players returned to fitness, Luis Enrique dropped him back to the bench for the biggest matches.

Warren’s stats in the 2025-26 season, as per FOTMOB:

Competitions Matches Goals Assists Tackles Interceptions Successful passes %

Ligue 1 32 3 4 48 12 93%

UCL 17 0 1 25 14 91%

Man United’s wider plans this summer

Zaire-Emery would arrive as United’s third midfield signing this summer, after big summer spending in that area already.Man United have considered several midfield options this summer, including Carlos Baleba, Alex Scott, Aurelien Tchouameni and Eduardo Camavinga at different points. Manu Kone was also linked before Zaire-Emery emerged as the newest name in that mix. United also missed out on Sandro Tonali, Elliot Anderson and Mateus Fernandes, who all moved for big fees elsewhere. Supporters at Old Trafford will hope this business finally gives Carrick a settled first-choice trio.

United have also looked at attacking reinforcements this summer, alongside their busy midfield plans this window. Everton forward Iliman Ndiaye and winger Crysencio Summerville have both been under consideration this summer, but neither move has advanced. Summerville’s situation remains tied to Marcus Rashford, with AS Roma now said to be ahead of United in that race. Rashford’s own future is still unresolved, since Barcelona have chosen not to trigger their option to buy him. He is still expected to join United for pre-season training once the new campaign nears. Yet whether he stays with the club beyond that point remains a genuinely open question.

Tactical fit and Premier League impact

Zaire-Emery plays best in a box-to-box role, mixing energy with sharp passing between defense and attack. This style suits Carrick’s system well, since he wants midfielders to press high and move the ball fast. A move to the Premier League would still take time, as English football’s pace differs significantly from Ligue 1.

Alex Scott and Manu Kone offer different skills, but lack his Champions League football experience at PSG. Turning United’s interest into a real deal may come down to money, more than tactics or fit. United will likely need to pay closer to PSG’s asking price of £68m to seal a deal.
