Leeds United transfer fee confirmed as statement released on clause

Leeds United

Juventus have confirmed the proceeds that they have earned from Tarik Muharemovic’s move to Leeds United.

Calciomercato report on their official statement today after Sassuolo finalised the sale of Muharemovic to Leeds last week.

‘Massive money’

The website explains that the defender’s ‘massive money’ move to Elland Road has also delighted Juventus. That’s because the Italian side had retained a 50% sell-on clause on the player.

Unlike normal deals, though, which usually focus on profit, the Italian giants secure 50% of the overall fee that Leeds have paid.

In an official statement, the Bianconeri reported that they have earned approximately €17.4m from the deal. Leeds, therefore, have spent double that figure for the defender – €34.8m.

Juventus consider it a ‘windfall’, and one that they had not factored into their budget plans for this season. They had anticipated that they would receive money from the defender at some point. They were more than aware of the ‘surge of market interest’ in the Bosnian following his performances last season.

Leeds money goes down well

They simply had not anticipated anyone paying such a huge figure for Tarik Muharemovic this summer. Instead, Leeds have come forward, paid €34.8m and made a ‘significant positive impact’ on the Bianconeri’s accounts for the season.

There is every chance that Juventus’ leadership, will now use the unexpected funds to help current transfers that are stuck in limbo, such as the move for Randal Kolo Muani, start moving.

Leeds, meanwhile, can rest comfortable in the fact that they’ve made more than one person happy with their big purchase this summer.

The hope is that Tarik Muharemovic can slot in quickly to Daniel Farke’s side and help the to quickly overcome the loss of Pascal Struijk. He left earlier in the summer in a move to Brighton.

For Juventus, the decision to sell Muharemovic but retain a sell-on clause has paid off greatly, and much earlier than they expected it to.
