Tottenham Hotspur striker Richarlison looks increasingly likely to depart North London during the summer transfer window, with Serie A powerhouse Juventus surfacing as a realistic destination for the 29-year-old forward. While many club observers previously anticipated a lucrative move stateside to Major League Soccer (MLS), recent developments in European football have reshaped the Brazilian’s transfer options.
According to reports from Italian outlet La Gazzetta dello Sport alongside comments from Spurs expert John Wenham, Tottenham are open to negotiating a departure for a fee in the region of £15m to £21m as head coach Roberto De Zerbi continues streamlining his squad ahead of the 2026/27 campaign.
John Wenham on MLS Expectations and Realistic Valuation
Speaking exclusively to Tottenham News, expert John Wenham admitted surprise at Juventus entering the race, having long assumed Richarlison’s next move would be to North American football. With the player entering the final year of his contract at Hotspur Way, Tottenham are motivated to secure a transfer fee rather than risk losing him for nothing. He said:
“Tottenham aren’t going to offer him a new deal. I thought he’d go to MLS and it would be announced in dollars and it would seem like a bigger fee than it actually was when he converted it to pounds. He will go for about £15-20 million maximum. It’s the contractual situation, the wages he probably wants. I think that’s the sort of fee he’ll go for and I expect he will go. It’ll be the fourth year in a row we’re selling our top goalscorer, but in reality he needs to move on and Tottenham have actively tried to sell him for the last two or three windows.”
Wenham noted that a £15m to £20m figure represents a fair valuation given Richarlison’s age, wage requirements, and contractual timeline.
Juventus’ interest in Richarlison has intensified as the Italian club searches for attacking reinforcement. With negotiations for primary targets like PSG’s Randal Kolo Muani stalling over valuation gaps, the Bianconeri have identified Richarlison as a high-value alternative.
The relationship between Juventus executive leadership and Tottenham head coach Roberto De Zerbi, who previously collaborated at Sassuolo, has facilitated open lines of communication. Furthermore, Richarlison holds positive connections with Turin, having trained at Juventus’ Continassa facility with the Brazil national team prior to the 2022 World Cup.
Since arriving at Tottenham from Everton in 2022 for £60 million, Richarlison has recorded 32 goals in 133 appearances across all competitions. He scored 11 goals for Tottenham last season in the PL. Although injuries periodically hampered his consistency, he delivered pivotal goals down the stretch to aid Tottenham’s late-season form.
