The club moved quickly after the previous campaign ended in an attempt to sign Alisson Becker from Liverpool. However, Juventus were unable to make progress as Liverpool insisted that the Brazilian goalkeeper was not available for transfer.
Juventus expand goalkeeper shortlist
After failing to secure Alisson, Juventus shifted their attention to Aston Villa goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez. Juve have identified the Argentina international as another leading target, but Aston Villa have so far refused to sanction his departure.
Juventus are still hoping Martinez could push for a move once he returns from his holiday following Argentina’s participation at the latest World Cup, which ended in defeat in the final. However, the Bianconeri are also preparing alternative plans should that transfer prove impossible to complete.
According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Freiburg goalkeeper Noah Atubolu has now emerged as the latest player under consideration. Juventus are closely monitoring the German as they continue evaluating their options.
Atubolu emerges as alternative
Atubolu has established himself as one of the Bundesliga’s most promising goalkeepers, producing a series of impressive performances for Freiburg over recent seasons. His displays also helped the club reach the Europa League final last term before they were beaten by Aston Villa.
The goalkeeper’s form has attracted attention from several leading European clubs, with Juventus among those keeping a close watch on his progress. His consistency and shot-stopping ability have made him an increasingly attractive option in the transfer market.
If Juventus are unable to complete a deal for Martinez, they are expected to increase their interest in Atubolu. The club remain eager to strengthen their goalkeeping options before the transfer window closes and could turn to the Freiburg goalkeeper if their primary target remains out of reach.
