Manchester United are keeping a close eye on Como midfielder Martin Baturina ahead of the new season. As reported by TEAMtalk, the Red Devils are interested in the Croatian international, with Tottenham Hotspur and Aston Villa also monitoring him.

United have not made an official offer yet, but their interest could raise fresh questions about Marcus Rashford’s future**.** The England international is back at the club following a loan spell at Barcelona**.** If Man Utd sign another attacking player, Rashford could find himself even further lower in the ranks.

Baturina impresses in Serie A with goals and strong all-round displays

Baturina joined Como from Dinamo Zagreb last summer and quickly became one of the club’s key players. After taking some time to settle in, the 23-year-old finished the season with 8 goals and 4 assists in 34 appearances.

One of his biggest strengths is his versatility. He can play as an attacking midfielder, left winger, central midfielder, or even as a centre-forward. That makes him a great option for clubs looking for a player who can fill different roles. His stats also show why so many teams are interested.

Martin Baturina’s club stats for the 2025/26 season, as per FOTMOB:

Competition Appearances Goals Assists Chances created

Serie A 29 6 3 62

Coppa Italia 5 2 1 11

Como not looking to sell despite growing interest

Several clubs have already tried to sign Baturina. As reported by TEAMtalk, Aston Villa made a €55m bid earlier this summer, but Como turned it down. Club president Mirwan Suwarso has made it clear that Como are happy to keep their best football players unless the right offer arrives.

Baturina also seems happy in Italy, he said playing in Serie A has helped him improve his discipline, focus and tactical understanding. He also praised the team spirit at Como after the club qualified for next season’s UCL. However, Tottenham also remain interested in the player, as reported by Football365. The report adds that Como would likely ask for around €80m before agreeing to sell him.

What does this mean for Marcus Rashford?

If United decide to sign Baturina, Rashford’s future could become even more uncertain. As reported by TEAMtalk, Barcelona chose not to sign Rashford permanently after his loan spell and preferred Newcastle United winger Anthony Gordon instead. Rashford is also United’s highest-paid player, earning around £325,000 per week. With co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe looking to reduce the club’s wage bill, his future remains unclear.

The reports also stated that Man Utd explored the idea of including Barcelona youngster Marc Bernal in a deal involving Rashford, but the Spanish club rejected that offer. There is still some hope for Rashford, as according to the report, manager Michael Carrick is willing to give the England international another chance. That is very different from former manager Ruben Amorim, who reportedly left Rashford out of his plans.

For now, United’s interest in Baturina is only at the monitoring stage. But after an excellent first season in Serie A and several strong performances backed up by good stats, the Croatian has become one of Europe’s most exciting young midfielders, who looks ready for big challenges like the Premier League. If United make a serious move for him, Rashford’s place at Old Trafford could come under even more pressure.
