Manchester United have already spent £80m in the transfer window but they can raise funds for further signings

It has already been a busy summer transfer window for Manchester United but they are far from done. Michael Carrick's side have spent £80m on new signings but some smart sales could give them extra scope to add to their ranks.
United have spent more than £80m on new recruits, signing Andrey Santos and Youri Tielemans to strengthen their midfield ranks. However, they have already recouped nearly half of that by selling Rasmus Hojlund to Napoli while they will save on wages after the departures of Jadon Sancho and Casemiro.
Manager Carrick has now been installed on a permanent basis after leading United into the Champions League and will likely need a deeper squad to account for European football. However, in order to free up as much money as possible for that goal, some exits may be required.
Marcus Rashford - £40m
For a time it appeared United were heading towards losing Rashford for a mere £26million, following a clause written into his Barcelona loan deal. However, the Catalan giants instead turned their attentions to Anthony Gordon.
That could prove a blessing in disguise, with Rashford potentially commanding a higher fee on the open market, though it remains to be seen whether a suitable buyer can be found. The England forward demonstrated at the World Cup that he remains capable of delivering on the grandest stage but still commands hefty wages.
Offloading Rashford could determine whether another left-sided attacker arrives at Old Trafford this summer. That said, Carrick may still choose to bring the academy product back into the fold if he decides he can offer something to the team.
Joshua Zirkzee - £30m

A 2024 arrival from Bologna, Zirkzee hasn't delivered in the way some fans had hoped after a debut goal. The Dutchman still enjoys a solid reputation in Italy, however, with Juventus among those said to be interested this summer.
Zirkzee remains tied to United until 2029 and, at 25, ought to command a reasonable fee were he to leave. He has demonstrated a readiness to stay and compete despite limited playing time but is among the more obvious candidates when it comes to generating a respectable transfer fee.
Radek Vitek - £10m
Reserve goalkeeper Vitek has already made clear his wish to spend next season as a starter, something he's unlikely to get at United with Senne Lammens their No.1. "I feel great and ready to go again somewhere to be, hopefully, number one, so we will see. We will see what is going to happen," he said.
The Czech shone during his loan spell at Bristol City last term and is prepared for either another temporary move or a permanent switch. While securing a substantial fee might prove challenging, a sell-on and/or buy-back clause would be a smart addition given his potential.
Altay Bayindir - £5m

The signing of Karl Darlow, combined with a fresh contract for Tom Heaton, points towards the end for Altay Bayindir. The Sun claims the Turkish international has been granted an extended holiday ahead of an anticipated summer departure.
A transfer to Besiktas has been mooted for the 28-year-old, whose last Premier League outing came in September. He has 12 months remaining on his Old Trafford contract but United still have an opportunity to recoup their outlay after spending just under £5m in 2023.
Toby Collyer - £3m
Young midfielder Collyer featured in a handful of Premier League matches during the 2024/25 campaign but split his 2025/26 across a pair of Championship loans. He finished the season at Hull, who may yet pursue him on a permanent basis following their promotion through the play-offs, though BBC Sport indicated in June that United were still to reach a verdict on the player's future.
Collyer, much like Vitek, represents a player whom the club might opt to offload at a sensible price while ensuring a sell-on clause is incorporated. He has 12 months remaining on his deal with an option for an extra year.

Tyler Fredricson - £2m
Centre-back Fredricson is understood to be edging closer to a summer departure. Transfermarkt places his value at just over £2m and he appears prepared to leave for regular first-team minutes.
Celtic are amongst the sides reportedly interested in securing his signature, having shelved a January bid when the youngster sustained an injury. He was omitted from the squad for Saturday's fixture against Wrexham and it would be no big surprise to see him move on.
