Manchester United are in search of attacking depth. They want to build on their progress from last season. The club has now made contact about Ismaila Sarr, according to recent Man United transfer news. This potential move comes after his phenomenal showing in the World Cup.

Man United have made an enquiry for Ismaila Sarr following his most prolific season in professional football. As reported by GIVEMESPORT, the Senegal international is now on the radar of Michael Carrick. United are said to have spoken with Sarr’s agents to gauge his interest in a move. Some sources suggest the club are still weighing multiple attacking options. However, they have formally made an enquiry to Crystal Palace about Sarr’s availability.
His stock rose notably during the 2026 World Cup in North America. Sarr netted four goals and gave two assists for Senegal. He made history for his country by becoming Senegal’s all-time top scorer in World Cup history.
This elite World Cup form followed a stellar club campaign where he scored 21 goals for Crystal Palace. He also claimed the Player of the Tournament award during the historic UEFA Conference League triumph of Crystal Palace. His big-stage displays have convinced the scouting team at Old Trafford that he is ready for a step up.

Meanwhile, Sarr has also openly declared his deep affection for the club. As reported by GOAL, the player has long-held goals to play at Old Trafford. Speaking to Senegalese media, the 28-year-old forward was very clear about his preferences. “My dream club? Honestly, there is only one club. I love Manchester United with all my heart, and I am one of its biggest fans,” Sarr stated.
Under INEOS and new manager Michael Carrick, United are focusing on signing proven Premier League players. Sarr fits this profile perfectly because he knows the league inside out from his time with Watford and Crystal Palace.
Sarr offers tactical range and can play on both wings or operate in the center as a striker. He is also a decent playmaker. As reported by FOTMOB, he created five big chances for his club last season. He also maintained a 75% successful pass rate. His elite finishing will also help Man United to improve their attacking edge.
Key obstacles in Man United’s move for the player
Despite the player’s desire, completing the transfer will not be easy. According to TEAMtalk, Crystal Palace are in a strong position during talks. Sarr is under contract until 2029, so the Eagles are under no pressure to sell one of their key players. Reports say Crystal Palace value the forward at around £50 million to £60 million.
United’s own squad plans could also affect the timing of any deal. The club may need to sell Joshua Zirkzee before making a move for Sarr. Marcus Rashford’s future is another factor, as Michael Carrick wants to bring the academy graduate back into his plans.
The Red Devils also face competition from Arsenal, Everton, and Liverpool. Arsenal are believed to be the second favourites to sign Sarr if he leaves Selhurst Park. Still, the chance to play Champions League football at his dream club could give United an edge.
