Manchester United want one more midfielder to complete their midfield rebuild and they could turn to a Premier League star.
Andrey Santos and Youri Tielemans became Michael Carrick's first summer signings, arriving from Chelsea and Aston Villa respectively. They are part of INEOS' overhaul in the middle of the park following Casemiro's departure and the co-owners aren't done there.
A new number six is on the cards and Real Madrid's Aurelien Tchouameni and Eduardo Camavinga have been linked. The Red Devils are believed to have re-enquired about the French duo's possible availability.

Deals for Tchouameni or Camavinga seem extremely difficult but they aren't the only names on the shortlist. A report from The Guardian claims that Fulham's Sander Berge has been identified as a potential option to further strengthen Carrick's midfield.
United have previously held talks to sign Berge, including during his time at Burnley before he moved to Craven Cottage in 2023. The Norweigan has been a key man for the Cottagers and impressed during the World Cup.
The 28-year-old was a member of the Norway team that suffered a 2-1 loss to England in the quarter-finals. Unlike Tchouameni and Camavinga, he possesses Premier League experience, which might be factored into a potential pursuit.
Fulham reportedly value Berge, dubbed "tremendous", at £40m and he has three years left on his contract at Craven Cottage. That fee makes him likely the least expensive of the midfielders who are on INEOS' wishlist.

United will be in no rush to seal a third midfield signing, given the deals for Santos and Tielemans were completed relatively early. That's taken the pressure off their transfer chiefs and allowed them to assess all options, including checking if Tchouameni is a possibility despite signing a contract extension.
Manu Kone emerged as the top target when Ederson's proposed switch from Atalanta fell through. The Frenchman enjoyed an impressive World Cup campaign and he has reportedly agreed on personal terms with the club.
