Casemiro has revealed that he told LA Galaxy that his heart was set on a move to Inter Miami when his Manchester United contract expired.
The midfielder officially completed the move earlier this week, having enjoyed a short break from all footballing action to recuperate from the World Cup.
Casemiro joins Inter Miami amid MLS controversy
His transfer hasn’t come without uproar, however.
LA Galaxy have signalled to the MLS that Casemiro’s switch should be investigated due to a potential breach of league rules by Inter Miami.
As the Los Angeles-based outfit held Discovery Rights for the player, no other team in the division should’ve been making contact with him to discuss a potential transfer until LA Galaxy wavered or acted on their first refusal option.
They subsequently released a statement after confirmation of Casemiro’s signing, saying: “The LA Galaxy and Inter Miami CF have reached a settlement for the discovery priority to sign Casemiro, and the terms will be released upon conclusion of the tampering investigation currently open with Major League Soccer.”

Meanwhile, Casemiro himself did touch on the links when stating: “I told LA Galaxy a long time ago that my only desire was to join Inter Miami. I was clear about that.”
United bid farewell to Casemiro after four years
The Brazil veteran, 34, announced back in January that he would be calling time on his Red Devils career once his contract expired in June.
There are places we pass through in life… and there are places that become part of who we are.
Manchester will forever be my home.
To the city, the club, and every supporter, my sincerest thank you. These past four years have been unforgettable, filled with moments my family… pic.twitter.com/gw1NEBiYk5

Although he had become a fan-favourite at Old Trafford, the majority of fans were in agreement that this summer was the best time to part ways.

Casemiro’s complete record with United
Casemiro wasn’t getting any younger, and would’ve faced a more hectic and physically demanding campaign in M16 over the next year due to the addition of Champions League football.
His release has also triggered a much-needed rebuild in the middle of the park, which has seen Andrey Santos and Youri Tielemans arrive in quick succession from Chelsea and Aston Villa, respectively.
