A Tottenham goalkeeper is keen to return to Italy amid serious interest from Juventus.
Tottenham Hotspur got their pre-season campaign under way earlier this week with a behind-closed-doors friendly against MK Dons, edging out a 1-0 victory.
Spurs now turn their attention to a three-match tour of Australia and New Zealand, with their first fixture taking place this Sunday. Roberto De Zerbi has selected a 35-man squad for the trip, although several notable names have not travelled. Guglielmo Vicario is among several players who has not made the journey.
The North London club have officially said that Guglielmo Vicario suffered a ‘minor knock’ in training, although it’s no secret that he wants out amid talk of a return to Serie A. The Italy international lost the No.1 spot to Antonin Kinsky after undergoing hernia surgery towards the back end of last season. The signing of Martin Dubravka on a free transfer from Burnley is also an indication of where Vicario stands in Roberto De Zerbi’s thoughts ahead of the new campaign.

Vicario is attracting serious interest from Juventus. It is understood that the 29-year-old is open to a return to Italy and expects to leave Spurs before the new season begins. The Lilywhites are also understood to be open to offers for the shot-stopper, who has been a regular since joining from Empoli in 2023.
Tottenham’s €15m asking price for Vicario is being considered ‘highly negotiable’, something that should encourage Juventus to go for him. However. the Bianconeri are finding it difficult to meet the goalkeeper’s valuation. Yet, they have not given up on the former Empoli star.
According to PA Sport reporter George Sessions, Juventus are assessing options to sign Vicario, including a loan with a conditional obligation to buy. The Turin giants are ready to step up their pursuit of the Tottenham glovesman after no progress in Aston Villa’s Emiliano Martinez.
Earlier, the North London club completely ruled out the possibility of allowing Vicario to leave on a temporary loan deal. Instead, Spurs have been demanding a permanent transfer, meaning Juventus will need to meet the required asking price if they want to bring Vicario to Turin. The Udine-born star’s experience in Italian football and his solid performances in the Premier League have made him an attractive proposition for Juve.
For their part, the N17 chiefs will be looking to recoup a significant portion of the fee they paid for him in 2023. But if Juve propose a loan with a conditional buy-option, it will be interesting to see whether we accept it.
