Liverpool are working to reach an agreement with Paris Saint-Germain over Bradley Barcola - who is open to a move to Anfield. That is according to the Daily Mail, who are reporting that the Reds are seeking a compromise on PSG’s current £140m valuation as the France international is open to holding talks with Liverpool.

The report goes on to claim that the 23-year-old has indicated he does not wish to sign a new contract with the Champions League holders, who are considering his sale. However, as the attacker still has two years left on his contract, PSG believe £140m is a fair reflection of his valuation based on his age, potential, and current market prices.

The report also claims that Arsenal and Bayern Munich retain interest in Barcola, while Chelsea made enquiries earlier in the summer.

Andoni Iraola has replaced the sacked Arne Slot and the Reds have already signed Spanish winger Victor Munoz from Osasuna in a £34.5m deal, beating Newcastle United in the process.

But speaking at his first press conference as Liverpool’s new head coach, Iraola, admitted that his side needed more players.

He said: “Obviously we've signed two players already but we need more players – we know this. The club is working on this.

“Me as a coach, selfishly, you want the players here [on] day one, ready to train from the pre-season, but we understand that football doesn't work like this. I know the club is working hard to get those signings and I'm trying obviously to help also.”

While former Chelsea midfielder Jody Morris believes Barcola would be a statement signing for the Reds this summer.

"Bradley Barcola would be a statement signing,” he said, via BOYLE Sports, who offer the latest football odds. “He is an outstanding talent.

“He was PSG's top goalscorer in the league last year even though he wasn't starting all the time. He is a goal threat with electrifying pace.

"If Arsenal or Liverpool get Barcola, that would be an amazing signing. I imagine if he were available, Chelsea would be in the running, but I don't see someone who has just won two Champions Leagues wanting to go to a club that isn't even in Europe.

“That is the downside of how Chelsea performed last year. Barcola has to move. He didn't play as much as he should have last year.

“If PSG sign another wide man, he definitely needs to leave. It won't just be Arsenal and Liverpool, the biggest clubs in Europe will be trying to sign him. I think he's brilliant."
