Liverpool is reportedly in negotiations with Paris Saint-Germain over Bradley Barcola, with the French winger understood to be receptive to a switch to Anfield.
The Reds are attempting to bridge the gap on PSG's asking price, as the France international is willing to enter discussions with Liverpool.
The 23 year old has made clear he has no intention of penning a new deal with the Champions League holders, who are now weighing up his departure. Nevertheless, with two years still remaining on his contract, PSG considers $187 million (£140m) a reasonable reflection of his worth, taking into account his age, potential, and prevailing market conditions.
The Daily Mail also suggests that Arsenal and Bayern Munich remain keen on Barcola, while Chelsea made their own enquiries earlier in the transfer window.
Andoni Iraola has taken the reins following the dismissal of Arne Slot, and Liverpool have already bolstered their ranks with the arrival of Spanish winger Victor Munoz from Osasuna in a £34.5m deal, pipping Newcastle United to his signature.
Speaking at his maiden press conference as Liverpool's new head coach, Iraola acknowledged that further reinforcements were required, stating: "Obviously we've signed two players already but we need more players – we know this. The club is working on this."
He added: "Me as a coach, selfishly, you want the players here [on] day one, ready to train from the pre-season, but we understand that football doesn't work like this. I know the club is working hard to get those signings and I'm trying obviously to help also."

Meanwhile, former Chelsea midfielder Jody Morris reckons Barcola would represent a major coup for the Reds this summer.
"Bradley Barcola would be a statement signing," he said, via BOYLE Sports, who offer the latest football odds. "He is an outstanding talent.
"He was PSG's top goalscorer in the league last year even though he wasn't starting all the time. He is a goal threat with electrifying pace.
""If Arsenal or Liverpool get Barcola, that would be an amazing signing. I imagine if he were available, Chelsea would be in the running, but I don't see someone who has just won two Champions Leagues wanting to go to a club that isn't even in Europe.

"That is the downside of how Chelsea performed last year. Barcola has to move. He didn't play as much as he should have last year.
"If PSG sign another wide man, he definitely needs to leave. It won't just be Arsenal and Liverpool, the biggest clubs in Europe will be trying to sign him. I think he's brilliant."
