Former Manchester United winger Jadon Sancho has reportedly been offered a bumper deal to sign for Al Rayyan. The Englishman, who left Old Trafford as a free agent this summer, has been the subject of an approach from Qatar and the eight-time league winners.
Foot Mercato have reported that the 26-year-old remains on the hunt for a new challenge after loan spells with Chelsea and Aston Villa as his disappointing chapter in the North West came to an end. Al-Rayyan are said to have hopes of capitalising on Sancho's situation and land a big move for the club, as they look to return to the summit of the Qatar Stars League for the first time since 2016.
The forward's exit was confirmed this summer, bringing an end to his five years at the club. United finally won the race to sign Sancho, reaching a landmark agreement with Borussia Dortmund, after a transfer battle which lasted over a year.
The reported offer from the Qatari's offers a chance for Sancho to relaunch his career after failing to establish himself as a starter with Chelsea and Villa.
Although he was used more off the bench for the two Premier League sides, it was a successful stint with both as he got his hands on UEFA Conference League and Europa League silverware.
Sancho hasn't posted since his departure from United was confirmed. The 23-time England international has been quiet on social media with his most recent post celebrating the Europa League success with Villa.
The forward's relationship at United became fractured after a public feud with then-manager Erik ten Hag.
His social media outburst resulted in a four month exile at United where he was placed on a personal training programme away from the football club. His exit from United was marked by one paragraph in the announcement of the club's retained list.
A move to Al-Rayyan could see the 26-year-old link up with Fulham hero Aleksandar Mitrovic, who netted five goals in 11 games after joining in September.
Although the Qatar Stars League doesn't feature the standout names like the Saudi Pro League, the likes of Pablo Sarabia, Krzysztof Piatek and Roberto Firmino all turn out across the division.
Al-Rayyan could be keen to strike a deal quickly with their season traditionally set to begin at the beginnin of August, running through to mid-April.
The Lions' third-place finish last term earned them a place in Champions League Two, the Asian Football Confederation's second-tier competition.
