Manchester United youngster Jaydan Kamason is targeting a first-team breakthrough after a superb second-half performance against Rosenborg on Friday.
Kamason was introduced at half-time against Rosenborg at the Lerkendal Stadion. He came on to play at right-back and recorded two assists after sending two accurate crosses into the box from the flank.
Michael Carrick said he was "delighted" with the performances of United's young players after the Rosenborg win.
Kamason had a brilliant 2024/25 campaign, consistently providing quality from right-back in attacking and defensive areas, but two injuries disrupted his progress last season.
The 19-year-old is now back to full fitness and raring to go ahead of the new campaign. "Good, thank you," Kamason said when asked how he felt after setting up two goals.
"It was good to get the assists, obviously, but just good to play for minutes and fitness. I could have been sharper at times, but I'm happy with the two assists."
He continued: "Last season, I unfortunately had two injuries, but hopefully this season will be more positive. I'm just trying to stay fit now and show my ability on the pitch."
When asked about targeting a first-team breakthrough, he said: "Yeah, hopefully. I'm always trying to aspire to get to that level.
"If I need a few loans or whatever, we'll have to see, but obviously, I'm trying to get to that top level, and that's Man United. You just have to be ambitious."
A United coach said Kamason had "big potential" after his youth goal at the Emirates last year. The youngster is talented, but he also puts in the hard work by doing extra work after training sessions to improve his game.
"I always do extra bits on that," he said about his quality in the final third. "Especially with the low crosses, because the low crosses are very effective. But it is just about getting into those positions.
"Once you get into those positions, you have the chance to get it into the box. That's what I want. It's just timing my movement, getting into those positions, then once I get in there, I just know what to do."
United's academy players have been boosted by Travis Binnion's presence in Carrick's backroom staff. Binnion was formerly Under-21 manager, but he stepped up to help the first team in January after Ruben Amorim's sacking.
Binnion was a key cog in the academy system and is hugely respected in youth circles. "Travis is a top person and top coach," said Kamason. "It is good to have him around the first team because obviously he knows all the academy lads.
"He's a great link between the academy and the first team, so it is good to have him around, and hopefully he can continue to help me."
