A Leeds United attacker has issued an upbeat message after last season’s loan spell.
Leeds United forward Mateo Joseph has issued an upbeat message after last season’s loan spell away from Elland Road.
Joseph informed Leeds last summer that he did not feel ready to travel to Sweden for a pre-season friendly with Manchester United and then opted not to join the squad in Germany for a training camp.
The striker then told boss Daniel Farke that he wanted a move back to Spain, Leeds insistent that they would only consider a loan exit for the 22-year-old who still has two years left on his Elland Road contract.
The Spain under-21s international forward had been the subject of transfer interest from Real Betis but RCD Mallorca had also expressed an interest in signing the Whites attacker who joined Mallorca on a season-long loan.
Having made 30 appearances for Mallorca for whom he scored two goals and bagged two assists, Joseph’s season was ended in April as he suffered an ACL injury which left the forward facing at least a few months out.
But Joseph has taken to social media to share a series of photographs of himself looking in excellent shape taking in gym work, the 22-year-old saluting “big changes” in recent weeks and his physique looking transformed.
Joseph returns to Leeds this summer with his future uncertain, the striker contracted at Elland Road until the summer of 2028.
Taking to his Instagram page, Joseph posted a series of photos of himself training in the gym in Leeds United training gear, together with the message: “Small improvements these past few weeks are starting to turn into big changes, we continue to build.”
