Serie A club considering swoop for 25 y/o Man United star – report

Como are interested in Manchester United striker Joshua Zirkzee, according to journalist Matteo Moretto.

The Serie A side want to strengthen their attacking options to cope with domestic and European demands next season.

Speaking on Fabrizio Romano’s Italian YouTube channel, Moretto claimed Como appreciate Zirkzee, although it remains to be seen whether a deal will materialise.

“The name the Como management likes a lot is Joshua Zirkzee,” Moretto said.

“However, it remains unclear whether Manchester United are open to selling him and whether he wants to leave the club. He is on Como’s shortlist alongside Moise Keane.”

Juventus are also interested in the Dutch striker as well as Paris Saint-Germain ace Randal Kolo Muani.

Zirkzee has struggled to impress since joining United from Bologna in 2024 and could leave the club this summer in search of regular game time.

He has failed to nail down a starting berth, with manager Michael Carrick preferring to play either Benjamin Sesko or Bryan Mbeumo ahead of him in the central-forward role.

Zirkzee could benefit from returning to Serie A, where he previously showed his quality.

The 25-year-old helped Bologna qualify for the UEFA Champions League in 2023/24. He was named the Serie A U23 Player of the Season and included in the Team of the Season.

United are expected to sign another striker should Zirkzee depart.

The Red Devils have been linked with Brentford’s Igor Thiago, Brighton’s Danny Welbeck and, most recently, Aston Villa’s Ollie Watkins as potential replacements for the Dutch forward.

Zirkzee is currently with the United squad preparing for the new season. He scored a fantastic goal in Saturday’s 5-0 pre-season victory over Rosenborg.

He will have further opportunities to impress Carrick during pre-season, but it remains to be seen whether that will be enough to secure his future at United.
