Premier League transfer latest including Arsenal, Everton and Newcastle United updates
We’re just 25 days away from the 2026/27 Premier League season getting underway, and preparations are well underway as top tier clubs in England look to have their squads refreshed and largely decided before the campaign begins. Before that, it’s pre-season tours aplenty, as a host of sides head out across the globe for money-making friendly fixtures.
Off the field, summer transfers are the major priority for most clubs, and we’re expecting things to ramp up further in the coming weeks now the 2026 FIFA World Cup is over. The futures of superstars including Newcastle United’s Bruno Guimaraes, Manchester City’s Rodri and Chelsea’s Enzo Fernandez are still unknown, but they all could potentially move before the window closes in September.
Today’s rumour mill round-up starts at Arsenal, where Mikel Arteta is desperate to sign a new option for the left wing. The club have already signed Christos Tzolis from Club Brugge, but they’re still after a more high profile starter, and sensational reports last weekend claimed they could make a move to sign Real Madrid world class star Vinicius Junior.
The latest from Talk Sport claims that the Gunners are ready to make the Brazil international their highest paid player to get the deal done, with a wage packet eclipsing the £300k+-per-week that Bukayo Saka is said to be on. Vinicius currently has just one year left on his contract at the Bernabeu, and Real moving for RB Leipzig’s Yan Diomande has further fuelled speculation that the 26-year-old could be set to leave.
The 3AM Verdict: We’re not entirely sold by this one. Vinicius is playing for arguably the biggest club in the world and is in his prime, earning a huge amount of money. A bit of interest from another top team wouldn’t exactly hurt contract negotiations with Real, and we expect him to eventually agree terms on a new deal rather than heading to north London.

Next up, it’s over to the North East, where Newcastle United have had a distinctly mixed summer window so far. They’ve lost key players in Anthony Gordon and Sandro Tonali, but brought in some exciting new signings including Aladji Bamba and Bazoumana Toure. According to Italian outlet Tutto Atalanta, the Magpies are now looking to bolster their defence.
They claim that the club could be set to finally press ahead to sign long term target Giorgio Scalvini from Atalanta, after reportedly plotting a £43m offer last summer. The story says that Newcastle are “at the forefront” when it comes to signing the Italy international, with his current side apparently needing to sell to ease financial pressures. It’s suggested that a bid in the region of £38m could be enough to get the deal done.
The 3AM Verdict: While many of their rivals look to begoing down the Premier League-proven line this summer, Newcastle continue to recruit from abroad, which does come with its risks. Their creaking defence really needs a makeover, however, and while untested in England, Scalvini looks to have all the attributes necessary to thrive at St James’ Park. A cut price fee, too? You can’t say fairer than that.

Last up, it’s over to the Hill Dickinson Stadium, where Everton are looking to build on last season’s promising start in their new stadium. They may have to do so without star man Iliman Ndiaye, however, with Team Talk reporting that Liverpool and Man United are both “on alert” to his situation, amid links with Saudi Pro League side Al-Hilal.
The story says that Ndiaye has “strong backing” from those in Liverpool’s recruitment team, while the Senegal international is said to fit the ‘versatile forward’ mould of player that United want to sign. Everton are said to be still be hopeful of tying the 25-year-old down to a new deal, however, with the club eager to open talks over a potential extension.
The 3AM Verdict: There have been some truly wild transfer fees bandied about this summer, the latest being a rumoured £125m asking price for Bradley Barcola. Ndiaye would certainly come a lot cheaper than that, and could do an excellent job for Liverpool. Man United, meanwhile, need to improve their wide options, and would also upgrade their squad by signing him. A move to the Saudi Pro League would be the wrong one for a player of Ndiaye’s age and ability, that’s for sure.
