Man Utd in ‘advanced talks’ with Euro giants for ‘illogical’ INEOS signing

Manchester United are reportedly edging ever closer to offloading Joshua Zirkzee, who is wanted at Juventus.

The 25-year-old signed for the Red Devils in the summer of 2024 on a £36.5 million deal after an astonishing campaign at Bologna.

However, the versatile attacker has struggled to make an impact at Old Trafford, at least on a consistent basis, prompting Samuel Luckhurst to depict him as an ‘illogical signing’ on INEOS’ part.

Juventus closing in on Joshua Zirkzee deal

After two underwhelming campaigns at Carrington, Zirkzee could be on his way out of the club, with Juventus emerging as his staunchest admirer.

On Monday, Italian journalist Matteo Moretto claimed Como are also interested in Zirkzee, but most sources agree that the Old Lady remain the frontrunners.

The Turin-based giants have parted ways with Dusan Vlahovic, who saw out his contract at the end of last season, while Lois Openda is also on his way out.

Juventus are hoping to bring back Randal Kolo Muani, but they haven’t been able to strike an agreement with Paris Saint-Germain. Therefore, they have apparently revived their interest in Zirkzee, who has been on their shortlist since his time at Bologna.

According to The Sun, Juve and Man Utd are currently engaged in advanced talks for the Netherlands international, who is open to a Serie A return.

United are reportedly willing to accept a loan with an option to buy, naming their price at £30 million.

Parting ways with Zirkzee is the right move for Man United

Since Michael Carrick’s arrival in January, Zirkzee has become an afterthought at MUFC, although he was already struggling for playing time under Ruben Amorim at the start of the season.

Therefore, it is clear that the Dutchman needs to find himself a new club that can help him relaunch his career, while Carrick could do with another attacker in his ranks, one that he’s willing to entrust with a prominent role.

Ruud van Nistelrooy 4 0 0

Ruben Amorim 46 8 2

Darren Fletcher 2 0 0

Michael Carrick 10 0 0

Benjamin Sesko is expected to remain Man Utd’s first option for the striker role, while Mateus Cunha represents an alternative profile, and the returning Marcus Rashford could also fill the role when required (at least if he ends up staying at Carrington), and they’re all expected to collect more playing time than Zirkzee.
