We are now at the stage of the Bradley Barcola transfer saga where supporters are starved of meaningful updates, even if there is a sense that real work is being done behind the scenes.
The latest report from a top source regarding Liverpool’s interest in Barcola comes from French outlet L’Equipe, who claims that the Reds have begun talks with PSG over a deal to sign the forward.
They report: “Liverpool have initiated talks with PSG over their interest in Bradley Barcola. Barcola is said to prioritise a move to Liverpool. There is a significant gap in Barcola’s valuation between PSG and Liverpool and that both clubs are expected to play the patient game until the end of the summer transfer window.”
A cryptic clue or silly season mania?
With so much speculation surrounding Barcola, it should come as no surprise to hear that some eagle-eyed Liverpool fans have noticed that the 23-year-old has liked Dominik Szoboszlai’s Instagram post about his recent £300,000-a-week contract renewal.
Barcola doesn’t follow Szobo on Instagram…
It may be a cryptic clue about where he sees his future or it may just be a symptom of silly season, but as the transfer window drags on without any further Liverpool signings, expect more of this.
It won’t be long before we begin to see fans tracking private jets between Paris and England either…

Liverpool need to sign Barcola ASAP
I feel like a broken record at this point, but delays in signing Barcola put the entire 2026 Liverpool summer transfer window at risk. If the club doesn’t sign a top replacement for Mohamed Salah, the chances of Andoni Iraola hitting the ground running diminish.
But really, I’m just a massive fan of Barcola and think he would be so perfect for what Iraola is trying to do at Anfield.

Given that Iraola’s entire style of play hinges on moving the ball from defence to attack with lightning speed, it’s no surprise that Barcola is the club’s top target this summer.
His pace, 1v1 ability and unpredictability would be so entertaining to watch this season so hopefully Liverpool can get this deal done ASAP.
