Ajax and Juventus have made initial enquiries for Manchester United forward Joshua Zirkzee, according to Laurie Whitwell of The Athletic.
However, the Amsterdam outfit have already decided against pursuing a move after signing two other attackers.
Joshua Zirkzee: The state of play
Whitwell adds that Zirkzee’s situation is now ‘under consideration’ at Old Trafford as INEOS continue working to reinforce Michael Carrick’s squad.

If they identify a striker more suited to Carrick’s setup than the Dutch international, they might as well cash in while there’s interest and secure an alternative.
While the majority of fans aren’t actively pushing for Zirkzee to be sold, there is an acceptance that he hasn’t hit the mark in M16 and that his record leaves much to be desired.
In the 75 appearances he’s made across all competitions, he’s returned only nine goals and four assists.

Why Zirkzee might be open to a move elsewhere
Yet, the 25-year-old would perhaps argue that he hasn’t been granted the opportunities to showcase his abilities or maintain any form.
United’s premature cup exits and lack of European action last season led to Zirkzee making only five starts in total, all of which came in the Premier League.

He made a further 19 appearances off the bench and accumulated just 609 minutes on the pitch, making it no surprise clubs are thinking United would be open to facilitating his departure.

The side qualifying for the Champions League earlier this year means there would be more chances for Zirkzee around autumn, although he’ll be well aware that he ranks behind counterparts Benjamin Sesko, Bryan Mbeumo, Matheus Cunha and, assuming he returns, Marcus Rashford.
United shelled out £36.5 million to sign Zirkzee from Bologna in 2024. It remains to be seen what INEOS think he’s worth now.
