AC Milan want to sign a left-footed attacker this summer, but they have lost their first-choice target for the season.
Konstantinos Karetsas was the long-term target for Ruben Amorim and Milan this summer, given his age and current quality. However, the interest from Borussia Dortmund had stretched back even further and that made the battle for the Greek pretty one-sided.
However, it wasn’t Karetsas or bust for the club. Indeed, he was just the leading choice for the next priority position.
As Corriere dello Sport writes, the Rossoneri are now back looking at other targets to complete their attacking trident. After all, they tried everything to land Karetsas, but the failure to sell Rafael Leao cost them in the end.
So, Amorim’s request to sign a left-footed attacking midfielder remains and the Diavolo aim to fill it. Amad Diallo remains a favoured option – especially after their relationship at Manchester United – but the cost of the Ivorian could make a move difficult.
Alternatively, moves for Can Uzun and Savinho seem to be in the recruitment team’s thoughts. However, Franco Mastantuono seems to be off the table now, with Real Madrid only willing to consider a loan.
Before anyone arrives, though, Leao must go.
