Palmeiras are planning to keep hold of teenager Eduardo Conceicao. Manchester United have reportedly held talks with the Brazilian side for the teenager.

The 16-year-old is yet to make his first-term debut for Palmeiras, but is already attracting the attention of some of Europe’s biggest clubs. It seems that United have now joined the race. But they will face resistance from the Brazilian club.

Globo Esporte claim that talks have been held with United as well as Manchester City and Barcelona. Prices discussed are said to have been around €25 million (£21.4m), plus $15 million (£12.9m) in add-ons.

However, talks are said to have ‘cooled’ during the World Cup, with Palmeiras appearing to have changed their stance. The club are now said to have decided to keep hold of the player and integrate him into the first-team squad.

If they do that, then they believe that they will be able to demand a fee of €50 million (£42.8m) in future transfer windows. Canceicao is already getting advice from the club’s manager and the senior players.

United have made an effort to bring some young talent into the club in recent windows. Ayden Heaven joined from Arsenal in 2025. United have also completed moves for Tynan Thompson and goalkeeper Kit Margetson this summer, with an eye on the young players developing for the future.

United are said to be keen to add to their striking options over the summer transfer window. Rasmus Hojlund’s exit has been confirmed, while Joshua Zirkzee is expected to leave before the end of the summer.

The club have been revamping their midfield options. They have spent a total of £85 million on moves for Andrey Santos from Chelsea and Youri Tielemans from Aston Villa.

The club are also eyeing a possible third midfielder, and have been linked with several players including Aurelien Tchoumeni, Alex Scott and Carlos Baleba.

United have also bought in back-up goalkeeper Karl Darlow on a free transfer.
