Youngsters develop football skills in Thurso with coaches from Manchester United

Two coaches from Manchester United helped around 75 youngsters develop their football skills at a two-day camp in Thurso.

The event, held in conjunction with Thurso Football Academy and AG Coaching, involved sessions for three age groups at the Dammies.

It was the latest in a series of training opportunities in the town provided by top professional clubs, supported by local coaches and backed by sponsors.

The visiting duo were James Willox and Scott Yuille, two of the academy phase lead coaches from the English Premier League outfit.

Alyn Gunn, founder of Thurso Football Academy and AG Coaching, said: “A big thank-you to everyone who came along to the event.

“Every coach that comes north has a different way of doing things. However, it was clear the standard of coaching delivered was of a good level and the kids who attended enjoyed the two days.

“As ever a massive thank-you goes to the event sponsors and additionally to the parents for backing us.”

James said: “We had a great few days in Thurso and some really interesting players came along. It will be very intriguing to see how these players progress over the next year as there are some really talented individuals across all three age levels.

“My thanks go to Alyn, who has done a fantastic job in setting up this event for his community. It’s clear to see he is a committed individual and without doubt he would be an asset to our set-up.”

Players of the camp in the 2-4 age group were chosen as Jaxson Bremner and Daniel Sutherland.

In the 5-8 age group the players of the camp were Ryan McKenzie and Zak McPhee, while those selected in the 9-14 category were Dave Steven, James Morgan and Jack Gardner.
