A former Manchester United talent who made his debut under Ralf Rangnick has refused to rule out a return to play at a Premier League club in the future.
Ralf Rangnick briefly took charge of the Red Devils in the 2021-22 Premier League season after Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was sacked as Manchester United manager.
The 68-year-old German, who is now the Austria manager, served as United interim manager until Erik ten Hag arrived from Dutch side Ajax in 2022.
Rangnick made the decision to hand both Zidane Iqbal and Charlie Savage their United first-team debuts in the Champions League tie against Young Boys in 2021.

Zidane Iqbal reflected on how his Man Utd career ‘took off’ in his mind for a brief period
Zidane Iqbal had been part of the Manchester United youth academy and had climbed through the ranks to make his debut for the Red Devils at Old Trafford.
The 23-year-old Man Utd midfielder subsequently featured in the Premier League club’s first pre-season tour under former Ajax head coach Erik ten Hag.

Iqbal went on the pre-season campaign alongside Wales international Charlie Savage, who left Old Trafford permanently and signed for Reading in 2023.
The Manchester-born talent felt the ‘sky was the limit’ during his emergence in the first team, but the trajectory that he had thought in his head failed to materialise.
“Everything was on top of the world,” Iqbal told The Athletic in June.
“I didn’t think I could have done anything wrong every time I got the ball, making the right decisions, doing the right skills or passes. Everything felt right.”

Zidane Iqbal is hopeful of making a return to the Premier League after his Man Utd run fell short
Iqbal left Old Trafford in 2023 after he was unable to establish himself under Ten Hag and signed for the ex-Man Utd and Ajax manager’s former side Utrecht.
Despite his setback at the Premier League club, the Iraq international has played 47 matches for his current side and netted once for the Dutch team since his arrival.
Iqbal, who represented Iraq at this summer’s World Cup in North America, has admitted that there is a desire for him to play in the Premier League again.
“I’m open to anything… but of course, I want to play at the highest level possible,” he added.
Iqbal featured in all three of Iraq’s World Cup matches and started two of his country’s Group I fixtures against France and Senegal this summer.
