Wayne Rooney has opened up on a pattern that he spotted at Old Trafford after he left Everton and moved to Manchester United during Sir Alex Ferguson’s reign.
The 40-year-old Manchester United legend broke into the Everton first team under David Moyes and announced himself to the world in explosive fashion as a teenager.
Wayne Rooney caught the eye of Sir Alex Ferguson and the former United and Everton striker was brought to Old Trafford in a deal worth £27m in 2004.
The England legend went on to become Man Utd’s record goalscorer after Rooney eclipsed Sir Bobby Charlton in the goalscoring charts at the Premier League club.

Wayne Rooney admits that a Chinese restaurant in Manchester became a ‘hot spot’ for Red Devils players
Wayne Rooney continued to play at Old Trafford long after former Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson called it time on his managerial career.
The former Man Utd captain captured five Premier League titles, the Champions League, the Europa League, the FA Cup and three League Cups with the club.

Rooney was known to live up the Manchester lifestyle after he moved from Liverpool and the former England striker opened up on a popular destination for players.
Speaking in a Reddit AMA, Man Utd’s all-time leading scorer admitted that “quite a lot of people” at the club started to visit Wing’s Lincoln Square in Manchester.
“My favourite Chinese in Manchester is called Wings [sic],” Rooney said.
“To be honest, there’s quite a lot of people from Manchester United who go in there. It opened when I first joined Man Utd, and then I’ve gone quite a bit after games and other Man Utd players and coaches go too.
“Sponsors, when they come over, they used to go a lot too, so I think it’s quite popular with the club.”

Rooney’s admission about Wing’s, a Chinese restaurant in the Manchester city centre, came after one fan had asked him about his “favourite takeaway.”
“That’s an easy one – Chinese takeaway,” he responded to a Reddit user.
“I order a mixture of different things at different times, but I like getting a few different starters.
“Obviously, not all to myself, but a few different starters and you can pick at the starters and quite a few times I don’t actually get to start the main because you end up getting too many starters.
“My go-to is probably chicken black bean as a meal. As a starter, salt and pepper chicken wings. Shu Mai as well, and spring rolls. There’s loads, we end up getting too much.”
Man Utd icon Rooney has been out of management since 2024 after he was sacked by Plymouth Argyle and he has since been a pundit and podcaster for BBC Sport.
