The representative of Manchester United striker Joshua Zirkzee has spoken with Juventus and Como over a possible return to Serie A, according to Tuttosport.
The Netherlands international has been a fringe player for the Red Devils over the last two seasons, and he has apparently opened the door for a departure.
Tuttosport now report that his agent Kia Joorabchian is exploring a possible return to the Italian top-flight, where Zirkzee was previously successful with Bologna.
Joorabchian has already made contact with Juventus and Como, and the latter seem more attracted to landing the services of the former Bayern Munich man.
United are open to a loan deal with an obligation to buy for £26-30 million. Juventus, on the other hand, could be tempted to sign him on loan with a buy option.
United could part ways with Zirkzee
The Red Devils sanctioned a loan deal for Rasmus Hojlund to Napoli last summer. As part of the move, the Naples outfit agreed to buy him for £38m if they qualified for the Champions League.
In our view, a similar kind of arrangement could persuade Juventus to secure Zirkzee’s services.
The Dutchman arrived at United with high hopes from Bologna two years ago, but he has been a huge disappointment with just five goals scored from 56 Premier League appearances thus far.
The 25-year-old has struggled to cope with the higher intensity and physicality of the English top-flight. A return to Italy could suit him, considering the Serie A is much more tactical and less intense.
As things stand, no proposal has been made by the Bianconeri. If a suitable offer materialises, United may want to land a new striker to compete with Benjamin Sesko before offloading Zirkzee.
Someone like Danny Welbeck would be a solid deputy behind Sesko, given his vast Premier League experience and late-blooming career, but the 35-year-old appears on his way to Chelsea.
