How Manchester United fared against Rangers at Super Cup NI

The attacking quality on display for United was frightening, and the scoring was opened by Mo Ibragimov, who had a shot bounce into the bottom corner past a diving goalkeeper. The younger brother of Amir and Gazik will be hoping to announce himself in this tournament.

After the opening goal, United were threatening down the right consistently through Jaice Dore, who was running rings around the Rangers defenders. But the half ended 1-0.

Then, six minutes into the second half, United found a second through brilliant midfielder Jed Bangura, who starred throughout, and also scored in the opening game of the tournament. It was an emphatic header that he scored with, but the goal was all Mane Soares.

Soares was sensational in the second half, terrorising the Rangers left-back and his perfect cross assisted Bangura, before eight minutes later he did it again with a rabona assist for Ben Lyne, who made it 3-0.

Lyne scored his second of the competition with a brilliant header, with wild celebrations following as a third-day top of the group clash with County Antrim, with the winner of that game going into the Super Cup semi-final later this week, and the loser heading into the Globe semi-final.
