Amad is back in Manchester United training for pre-season and has brought with him a renewed energy that he was lacking last season.
The World Cup players are starting to arrive back at Carrington for pre-season, with Amad pictured this week in the early stages doing gym work.
Amad will be in the running to get minutes against Atletico Madrid this weekend as pre-season kicks up a notch against top European competition, and he will be eager to get back on the pitch to continue the brilliant form he showed at the World Cup.
He will be hoping that his 2026/27 campaign is more like his World Cup than how his 2025/26 season went for him at United, scoring just twice all season long. After returning, Amad has shared one message that proves he could be back to his best.

Amad sets target to win trophies for Manchester United during 2026/27
Despite not starting every game, Amad had a World Cup to remember as he scored twice in 184 minutes of action, every 92 minutes.
This was coincidentally in two games he came off the bench in.
Amad looked like a different player in the colours of the Ivory Coast, playing with a lot more confidence after a season at United in which he didn’t have that.

We had hoped he would bring the confidence from playing for his nation back to Carrington, and it appears he has done exactly that after sending a message ahead of the new season on his Instagram.
“A new season. More motivation, more hard work, more determination. The goal is clear: to win trophies”.
This is the message of an individual who has a point to prove and is ready to step things up a level. Stating the desire to win trophies – plural – shows his ambition, hunger, and confidence, which maybe hadn’t been there at times last season when he didn’t look entirely interested.
If Amad takes this onto the pitch, he could find the levels he showed during 2024/25 under Ruben Amorim, and finally show consistently that he is one of the most talented players in the league.

United need to see more from Amad this season
Most of Amad’s time at United has been about his potential, which he showed how good he is in the 2024/25 season, earning a big-money contract that runs until 2030, and that season established him as a star.
But last season was a clear regression; for whatever reason, he just wasn’t as effective, missed so many big chances in front of goal, and was a shadow of the brilliance he showed previously.
There had been talk of Amad being sold this summer, which feels unlikely, but unless he can kick on this coming campaign, then summer 2027 United might be seriously looking into cashing in.
At the highest level, you can’t have two bad seasons, two seasons of scoring just two goals in a team finishing third. So this season is vital for Amad.
He either showed last season was a fluke and kicks on to new heights, or United will have a big decision to make next summer over his future.
For now, he is at least saying the right things.
