AC Milan have explored move for£37m Man Utd star, Amorim wants new no.10

AC Milan have explored the possibility of signing Manchester United winger Amad Diallo, according to Corriere dello Sport.

The Rossoneri are currently managed by former United head coach Ruben Amorim, who is eager to land a left-sided attacking midfielder ahead of the new season.

Genk’s Konstantinos Karetsas was a prime target, but Milan were beaten to his services by Borussia Dortmund. They will pay £27.4m upfront with easy add-ons.

The Rossoneri are looking at alternatives. Diallo is highly sought after, but his cost is prohibitive.

Milan have a restricted transfer budget as things stand, with Galatasaray yet to find a suitable agreement to secure the signature of wantaway forward Rafael Leao.

United unlikely to entertain Diallo sale

Amad’s best season at United came after Amorim’s appointment in 2024/25. He managed 21 goal contributions across all competitions, primarily playing as a right wing-back.

He had five more goal involvements from the role last season. Amorim’s exit at the start of the year coincided with his dip, considering he had to operate higher up the field.

Under manager Michael Carrick, Amad struggled to find his peak form with just one assist on the final day of the season. Despite this, the club are unlikely to contemplate his departure.

Amad is presently the immediate competitor to Bryan Mbeumo for the right wing position. The 24-year-old would be an assured starter if Mbeumo is rested or played upfront next season.

Hence, United have no reason to part ways with their £37 million signing unless they receive a significant fee. Milan are in no position to afford him, having failed to sign Karetsas for £27.4m.

Amorim may probably see Amad as a right wing-back or left attacking midfield solution at Milan, but a reunion is unlikely to happen this summer, barring a surprise deal out of nowhere.
