Man Utd star Patrick Dorgu shares biggest difference he’s spotted between Joshua Zirkzee and Benjamin Sesko

Patrick Dorgu has now made a key comparison between Manchester United teammates Joshua Zirkzee and Benjamin Sesko during his time at Old Trafford so far.

Joshua Zirkzee and Benjamin Sesko were the two main striker options at the disposal of Michael Carrick and Ruben Amorim in the 2025-26 campaign.

However, Manchester United manager Michael Carrick also turned to Bryan Mbeumo as an alternative forward pick during his reign as interim boss last season.

Zirkzee has predominantly played second fiddle to Sesko after his United teammate arrived at Old Trafford from German side RB Leipzig in a £73.7m deal last summer.

Patrick Dorgu on Joshua Zirkzee and Benjamin Sesko in Man Utd training

Both Patrick Dorgu and Joshua Zirkzee have featured on Manchester United’s pre-season tour under Michael Carrick after missing out on this summer’s World Cup.

Benjamin Sesko also did not feature at the World Cup in North America, but the 23-year-old Slovenian forward has not played in the pre-season due to a shin injury.

Speaking to ESPN, Dorgu was asked which United first-team player was most likely to ‘count’ how many times that they have scored in a training session.

ESPN’s Ralph Karumazondo scribbled down the name of Sesko in a bid to predict what Dorgu would say, only to realise that Zirkzee had been picked instead.

“Josh likes to [score], yeah,” Dorgu said.

“Josh is like, he’s like really loud and he loves to win in training.”

Joshua Zirkzee’s Man Utd future remains uncertain amid playing in the pre-season tour under Michael Carrick

Zirkzee has been heavily tipped with a move away from Old Trafford this summer and multiple clubs have been interested in landing his services from Man Utd.

According to Goal, Ajax, Juventus, Como and two other unnamed Premier League clubs have been monitoring the 25-year-old striker’s situation at Old Trafford.

Zirkzee featured in Man Utd’s opening 1-0 defeat to Wrexham in Finland before the Netherlands international netted in last week’s 5-0 win over Rosenborg in Norway.

The United star, who has been at Old Trafford since 2024 after his arrival from Serie A side Bologna, is under contract with the Premier League club until 2029.
