Not Mazraoui or Mount: Amorim plots shock reunion with Man Utd man after INEOS make clear he’s off-limits

Ruben Amorim has reportedly set his sights on a shock reunion with Amad Diallo at AC Milan.

The news comes courtesy of Corriere dello Sport, which adds that the Red Devils star has found himself on a list of attacking targets to replace wantaway Rafael Leao when he eventually gets his move.

Amorim eyeing Amad for summer switch

Amorim, unlike his predecessor Erik ten Hag, was actually keen on utilising Amad throughout his short tenure, and the player repaid such faith with some impressive form in his performances.

In the 43 games he made played under Amorim across all competitions, he returned 10 goals and 11 assists. Of those appearances, 34 came from the off.

Despite a quiet end to the term under Michael Carrick, Amad was back to his best when representing his nation at the World Cup this summer.

Amad’s complete record for United

The 24-year-old notched two crucial goals at the tournament, both of which came in cameos off the bench.

Initially, he netted a 90th-minute winner to secure a win in Ivory Coast’s first group-stage outing against Ecuador, before adding to his tally with a late equaliser in a Round of 32 clash with Norway.

Alas, it comes as no surprise that Amorim has identified Amad as a suitable option to bring in at the San Siro ahead of his maiden campaign at the helm.

What’s United’s stance on selling Amad?

Unfortunately for the Portuguese coach, a deal is entirely ruled out from INEOS’ perspective.

Already this transfer window, United have sought to make it clear that Amad is absolutely not for sale after receiving approaches from numerous suitors.

He is also tied to Old Trafford until June 2030, having signed an extension last January, so they’re under no pressure to facilitate a sale.
