Manchester United are still searching for a third midfielder, but after a transfer target’s demand to leave, they could be rushed into a decision.
The priorities for Man Utd coming into the window were clear, and even though it doesn’t look like it, they’ve done a good job of sorting it.
Two midfielders have arrived, a backup goalkeeper means Altay Bayindir can be sold, and Tynan Thompson is an intriguing prospect.
However, before they can sign a third midfielder, they might have to make a decision on a target whose future rests on Marcus Rashford.

Man Utd target Matias Fernandez-Pardo asks to leave
Man Utd were linked to Lille’s Matias Fernandez-Pardo after a season for Lille which delivered eight goals and five assists in 27 starts.
The Belgian plays primarily on the left wing, and his form made it so that his country called him up for the World Cup.
Fernandez-Pardo played just 41 minutes of football at the tournament, but 34 of those came in a 5-1 win against New Zealand, where he shone.

After raising his stock further at the World Cup, Fernandez-Pardo has asked to leave Lille, as per Loic Tanzi.
This is quite a major development, and Tanzi reports that the likes of Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, and Atletico Madrid are interested.
Tanzi doesn’t name Man Utd, and that is largely because United’s recruitment of a LW depends upon what happens with Marcus Rashford.
If Fernandez-Pardo is available for a cut-price fee, then it could rush United into a decision on Rashford, and thereby, a bid for the Belgian.
Marcus Rashford holds the key to Man Utd’s window
Fernandez-Pardo’s demand to leave Lille is just the latest in a long line of dominoes that keep falling around United, with the club not acting on any of them.

That is because there is a huge Marcus Rashford-shaped hole in the wage bill and the incoming fees since Barcelona refused to buy him.
There have been reports of Rashford’s reintegration into the first team, but that could be posturing, because it really doesn’t look like he can return to Old Trafford and resume business as usual.
As long as there is no clarity on his future, United will continue to rule themselves out of a move for the likes of Summerville, Barcola, or Fernandez-Pardo.
Maybe the latter’s transfer request presents an opportunity too good to pass up for United, but at the moment, their eggs are held hostage in the Rashford basket.
